The Board voted
5-0 to elect Everett Evansky as Secretary.
As of May 17, 2008 the operating account balance was $13,738.26.
Plans are being made to attend the Slow Food National meeting in San Francisco this summer.
Hunter Reno reported that the Seafood
Picnic event generated $2,352. These funds will be used to provide supplies to the Alexander Montessori
School Garden Project. Hunter proposed a planting weekend in August.
Slow Food Miami
currently has 151 members, while Slow Food USA now has 16,000 members.
New features such as photos and
a reading list are being planned for the webpage.
New nominations for the Ark of Taste are being considered, including the Cogshall Mango, the
Cushman Mango, and the Pantin/Key West Mamey.
Noel Ramos recommended several upcoming events, including: Summer Food Festival at the Fruit
Spice Park on Saturday, June 21, the Rare Tropical Fruit Conference from July 10 through 13 and the September Food Event at
Fairchild Tropical Gardens,
Donna Reno discussed the June 7th Florida Convivium, the King Corn event.
