Celebrates Carlo Petrini and the Revolution Sunday Dinner at
Fratelli Lyon on February 24 from 6-9 pm for a celebration of Carlo Petrini and the protest that started the Slow
Food Revolution. We chose this restaurant because the owner, Ken Lyon has designed a beautiful and creative new restaurant
which will feature regional cuisine from Italy, artesian cheeses,meats and wines, the authentic slow foods of Italy which
Carlo recognized as the "real food of Italy". Dinner will featured
wines from Castello Banfi in the Brunello Region of Tuscany. Castello Banfi’s dedication to excellence is
known throughout the world and it is our privilege to have their superior wines for this event. Location:

Stone Crab Picnic at Coral Gables Farmers
Market Saturday, January 26th 405 Biltmore Way (in front of city hall) Coral Gables The Coral
Gables Farmers Market , now in it’s 16th year, is a European style green market which takes place every Saturday from
8 am to 1 pm beginning January 19 th through the end of March. Slow Food Miami is participating this year by celebrating
our favorite crustacean, the Stone Crab. Join us for a cooking demonstration by Chef Roberto Ferrer from Cohiba Brasserie
during which he will create a stone crab and avocado dish from 10 to 11am. The picnic will begin at 12 noon, with
fresh Stone Crabs by Judy(The Stone Crab Lady) for $10 a pound and sides dishes created by Brendan from Whisk Gourmet. Bring
your own wines to pair with your Stone Crab and your favorite crab tools. Join us at our community tables in the
picnic area for some South Florida seasonal specialties and a convivial picnic. See you there!!!
Slow Food Miami Celebrates Farm Day at Bee Heaven Farm

December 9th from 1 to 3 p.m. Slow Food Miami takes seriously the importance of our few remaining family owned farms that
practice sustainable agriculture. Please join us at Bee Heaven Farm, a member of our Convivium, in Redland on
Sunday, December 9th from 1 to 3 p.m. where Slow Food Miami will have its own table. This family-friendly
event features delicious local food, hayrides and a chance to make your own scarecrow. It is also a chance to purchase
farm-produced holiday gifts that include honey, a dried fruit mix, rubs, totes and some heirloom start tomato plants. The Chefs of Ideas

historic; Avila, Segovia and Salamanca. Serrano ham, garlic, duck and quail are infused into the menu as they are the
prominent ingredients of the region. Beans are revered and many feast days feature garbanzos and lentils. Our

is a strong advocate for farmer's markets and for sound and sustainable agriculture. Among Alice's many board affiliations,
she is an International Governor of Slow Food. October 25th, 2007: New Member Wine Tasting at Cefalos New SFM members enjoyed wine and appetizers. September 19, 2007: Wilson Popenoe Avocado Dinner Celebratation of the nomination of the Wilson Popenoe Avocado to the Ark of Taste! Cohiba Brasserie Chef Roberto Ferrer, of Cohiba Brasserie, created
a menu that reveals the mystique of avocados, the depth of their flavor and creaminess. The dinner featured delicious organic
wines from Bonterra in California, paired with the
exotic menu. We wish to thank the generosity of Bonterra Wines and Wilson Daniel LTD. July 18th, Summer Seasonal Dinner at North One Ten Restaurant SFM celebrated mango season with savory seasonal dishes and complementary wines! Slow Food Miami thanks Domaine
Ste. Michelle for the wines! $20 of each ticket benefited Slow Food educational programs. April 22, 2007: Slow Food Blue Crab Picnic Slow Food Miami held its first annual Slow Food
Blue Crab Picnic at the home of Hunter Reno and Peter Rabbino situated amid native pines and tropical foliage in their
beautiful private garden. Beside a genuine South florida feast that included blue crab chowder, blue crab cakes, pecan cornbread
and key lime pie, executed by Slow Food members the owners of Whisk Gourmet Food & Catering of Coral Gables, there was
a presentation by a master gardener, plants for children to take home. March, 2007 Five of Miami's most trusted and talented food writers shared their perspectives
on fresh food's tastes and the artistry they inspire at Coral Gables Books & Books. The conversation continued over
wine and cheese with the authors at the cafe. February
26, 2007: THE TAPAS, WINE & CHOCOLATE TASTING The tastings at Old Vines Wines, 2250 Coral Way, was
full of taste surprises, from the sparkling white Spanish wine to Xixon's extraordinary Catalan tapas and the artisanal
chocolates from Romanicos. January
21, 2007: Royal Afternoon Tea at Theine featured champagne, savories and sweets along with tea. The sold-out
crowd included a stimulating combination of new and old members, including a young tea club! October 8, 2006: Slow Food friends & family attended
a dinner and talk by the founders of the area's new ecogastronomical restaurant, Pasha. September 9 2006: Redland Ramble & Country Supper.
After our visits to Redland farms, Slow Food met at the Schnebly Vineyard for a winetasting, tour and potluck supper. We toasted
Gaby Berryer, Caryl Zook, Rowena Gerber, Rachael and Cliff Middleton, and Richard Campbell, our delegates to Terra Madre in
Italy, where the world's food communities will meet at the end of October. Gourmet Picnic at Williams Grove. A day in the country featuring cooking demos by Caryl Zook
& tours by Fairchild fruit authority & expert raconteur, Richard Campbell. Hosted by Noris Ledesma, the day included
sales of a wide variety of fruits and some of Noris' own cooking, as well as an elegant dinner in the lovely new education
facility. Wine & Storytelling Dinner,
17 July, at restaurant North One 10, was a classic evening of food & culture with a remarkable menu featuring
local ingredients. Members brought their own wines and tales to enrich the taste education experience. Our thanks to Janet
Carabelli for organizing, and to North One 10 for really "getting it" about the Slow Food movement!
