Slow Food Miami is the local chapter of Slow Food USA and the International Slow Food Association.  Slow Food Miami is an eco-gastronomic organization that supports a bio-diverse, sustainable food supply, local producers, heritage foodways and rediscovery of the pleasures of the table.

Our local members are passionate about good food and seek to promote the aspects of the Slow Food movement that are unique to Miami. The Miami Convivium celebrates our South Florida local tropical fruits and seafood with theme dinners and fun events.  Slow Food Miami brings together Miamiams who love good food, embrace Miami's diverse culinary traditions, promote locally produced food and to educate and celebrate our local food traditions.

Why join Slow Food Miami?
The Miami Convivium is a vibrant community of over 150 active members who love good food and wine and appreciate the multi-cultural influences of our local cuisine.  In addition to the many social and culinary benefits of Slow Food Miami membership, our organization is also a “movement”.  The goal of Slow Food is to encourage a future of good, clean and fair food.

History of the Slow Food Movement
In 1986, McDonald's opened in Rome's Piazza di Spagna. For Dr. Carlo Petrini and a group of friends interested in gastronomy, it was time to act. Their concerted protest took the shape of a 'Slow Food' movement. Slowly (of course!) but surely since then, Slow Food has been sweeping the globe, and now boasts 85,000 members in 50 countries, organized into more than 700 local groups!
